October 13 Sea day #3
Sunrise was just after 8 a.m. with a partly cloudy sky, a very strong wind and temperature was 21°C The waves had white caps and were about two meters high. Occasionally you feel a little roll.
This is Sea Day #3 from Tenerife to Lisbon, Portugal. We started the day with breakfast at Two70° café and then went to the Diamond Club for good coffee. There is a nice continental breakfast there, too.
This was a relaxing day with not much on our calendar, although the ship is hopping with different activities. After 22 days of being on the go, a day of rest was needed. We sat in on the 20 question Morning Progressive Trivia Quiz in the Two70° theatre. We were not good at guessing the answers to the British focused questions. The captain made a ship wide announcement that arrival in Lisbon tomorrow will be 90 minutes later than scheduled, due to the stoppage for the engine maintenance last evening. He is adding 60 minutes to departure time. The ship’s excursions for tomorrow were all cancelled and the later morning and early afternoon were rescheduled or permanently cancelled. We have a 2:30 p.m. Stroll through Lisbon that stayed on schedule.
We went to the Solarium for lunch and at 1 p.m. it was only at half of its 80 person capacity. We took it easy today and even had naps.
The dining room had fewer guests than normal, it was almost like being on the Edge earlier in the month, only half the tables were occupied in the American Icon Dining Room.
The Headliner Show this evening was a Beatles Tribute band, which were quite good. The volume of shows is quite high, so we have earplugs that reduce the sound by 30 decibels and that is comfortable for listening. In the stateroom this evening there was a sheet of paper detailing the procedure for the Back-to Back cruisers which is what we are doing, although we are switching to a different stateroom one deck up and seven staterooms further back. Usually there is a meeting on the last or second last day of the cruise to provide that information but the handout was detailed enough to make a meeting unnecessary. Then we went up to the quiet Solarium bar for a nightcap or two, in Larry’s case, as he had to try Royal Caribbean’s version of the Bermuda Dark and Stormy cocktail.
Total steps 7,280
